Obituary

Victor S. Arzaga known as “Papi” was 87 years old from Chandler Heights, AZ who passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 20, 2019 at 5:21 a.m. in Chandler, AZ. Papi was born in Nombre de Dios, Chihuahua, Mexico to Josefa Sígala Gallegos and Victor Arzaga Piñon on June 4, 1931. He married his beloved wife Socorro Holguin Jimenez on June 24, 1950.

Our Papi was an amazing man who was respected and loved by not only his family but also all who knew him. He instilled strong family values and was an exceptional role model to whom we all looked up to and admired deeply. His presence always made everyone feel welcomed and loved. He was a hard worker and took much pride in everything he did
including building his own home with his bare hands. Papi always embraced us with joy, warm hugs and kisses! He took the time to individualize his expression of love to every single one us, including his great-great grandchildren.

Papi is the strong root of our family tree that has flourished and continues to grow even after his passing. He created an unbreakable bond that will forever be in our hearts.

Papi used his quirky sense of humor to make us laugh by saying things like, “I’ll be back in a little bit. I am gonna go dance with pretty girls at Norton’s Corner,” "Don’t touch me, I am clean!” or “Happy Birthday to me, not you!” Papi loved to have his palms scratched and if you were sitting next to him he would extend his arm, open his palm, and say, “scratch me” and as soon as you began to scratch his hand he would say, “aaaahh” and smile. He left us beautiful memories full of love, strength, and unity.

Papi is preceded in death by: his eldest daughter, Rachel Arzaga. Papi is survived by: his wife Socorro, his eight (8) children: Josie, Irma, Tony, Yoli, Victor, Beatriz, Ruby, and Vicky, his twenty-seven (28) grandchildren, forty (40) great grandchildren, and two (2) great-great grandchildren.
