Regina Cross Lyng passed away peacefully on April 5, 2019 at home. She was born on October 10, 1927 in Lima, Ohio, and was the oldest of five children. The family later moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she was raised.
She graduated from Bay Ridge High School in 1945. Regina attended modeling school and worked at the telephone company. She met her husband, Richard Lyng, at a church dance. They married on June 16, 1951. Together
they raised 5 children. The family lived in Charlottesville, Virginia and Gainesville, Florida before retiring to Arizona in 1991. During retirement they enjoyed traveling throughout the world. Regina's favorite place to visit was Austria.
After her husband passed in 2004, she moved to Gilbert, Arizona.
Regina is survived by her five children, Kathleen Scruggs of Gilbert, Arizona, Richard Lyng of Costa Mesa, California, Robert Lyng of San Jose, California, William Lyng of Huntington Beach, California, and Mary Bradley,
of Gilbert, Arizona. She has ten grandchildren; Kristina and Patrick Scruggs, Virginia; Robert and Emily Lyng, Texas; Megan and Michael Bradley, Arizona; Jessica and William Lyng, California and Lexi and Rylee Lyng, California.
Also surviving is her sister, Betty Long, Maine and a brother, Frank Cross, Arizona. She also has many nieces and nephews. Regina was preceded in death by her sisters Marilyn Grimes and Margaret McManus.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to either St. Mary's Food Bank or the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix, Arizona.
