On Friday night, February 8, 2019, we lost one of the most beautiful people that God ever created. Bessie De Rosa died peacefully at her home.

Despite a hard start to her life, she continued to see the good in everyone. She was always there to help, not only her family, but everyone. (I’ve never seen so many donations to so many different organizations) She truly cared. She taught us to always put ourselves in others’ shoes and realize what they may be going through, so to be patient and kind and not to judge.

She was 101 years old and she was “tired”. Her health had been failing, but despite that, she was still able to somewhat enjoy the things she liked to do. She loved to eat (especially sweets), she would play scrabble and do crossword puzzles until a few months ago, she liked to go to the casino but would go less and less until she wasn’t able to go anymore, she liked to watch the old movies, and just liked reminiscing about the old days. She loved her family and was so proud of all of them.

She will be missed, but I know that she will always be with us in our everyday lives, reminding us to be the best we can be and to treat others as we would like to be treated. She was a great woman and if I can be half the woman she was, I’ll be great and will do her proud.

Some say that there are angels among us, and if that’s true, then my Mom will be leading the pack. I know she’s my angel and will live in my heart forever.

Bessie was preceded in death by loving husband, Joseph De Rosa and her son, Alfred De Rosa.

Bessie is survived by her children; Mary Collins (spouse Chuck), Santino De Rosa (spouse Lorraine), Elizabeth (Betty) De Leone (spouse Sal); her grandchildren; Joseph De Rosa (spouse Paula), Christina Johnson (spouse David), Linda Flannery (spouse Keith), Susan Collins, Gale De Rosa Townsend (spouse Chris), Santino De Rosa Jr. (spouse Kate) and Christine De Leone; her great-grandchildren, Joseph, Tony, Christopher, Santino, Brooklyn, Christian. Bessie also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Betty De Rosa; and Teri De Rosa an extended family member.
